Heartwood Creations

Heartwood Creations

Over 30 years ago, Mike Fisher crafted his first "Secret Box" for a special friend. From that humble beginning, Heartwood Creations has established itself as a group of talented craftspeople from America's heartland whose products are shown in many of the finest craft shops and galleries the world over.

Each box is made from the heart. The craftspersons' mark that signifies their care and love of woodworking is the little heart that you see on every box.

JK Creative Wood

JK Creative Wood

JK Creative Wood is located in Kalona, Iowa, the largest Amish settlement west of the Mississippi River. Joel and Karma live and work in the midst of the Amish countryside. They have seven children who are involved in the business in a variety of ways. They have been committed to creating quality wood items since 1981.\

Their children represent the 6th generation of woodworkers. Joel does all the precision cutting while Karma designs each piece. They enjoy working with wood, a renewable natural resource. The sawdust is used by Amish neighbors who recycle the sawdust for animal bedding and ultimately for natural fertilizers on their fields.

Wilderness Woods

Wilderness Woods

Since 1987, Carol Watkins and Rebecca Rettenmund have designed and created nearly 200 original illustrations that are used to adorn the products of Wildneress Woods. Both are Wisconsin natives, yet each artist has also spent time honing their skills beyond the Dairy State. Carol lived in Chicago after college to pursue a career in fashion design. Rebecca has spent the last six years in Seattle as a 2-D game artist.

Carol and Rebecca have each developed a confident, and naturalistic illustration style. Their work exhibits a conscious use of line weight and value which lends itself well to the laser engraving technique.
